I had the weird "asleep" feeling in my feet (first in the left and then both) and they felt swollen, though they didn't look swollen. I had thought it was due to the step ups as I was wearing them all the time for hours. I started to wear some of my older shoes, but had double vision for a week, then the numbness spread up from my feet to knees, balance went, numbness went to waist. I was diagnosed with ms in July, but went through testing and iv steroids in may. Currently I still have the "wierd" feeling in my feet. They don't feel as swollen as they used to. I had even told my doctor that I had felt that my socks were too tight but when I looked I wasn't wearing any. The feelings in the feet have not disappeared but I don't focus on it during the day when I'm running about working too much.
When the numbness and tingling just started, I thought nothing of it because I thought everyone's feet went to sleep after sitting in a chair for a certain period of time. Now, the tingling and numbness happen several times a day. It is made worse by sitting in wooden chairs or other hard surfaces. It takes about 10 minutes of sitting in a wooden chair and I cannot get myself out of it without having a numb foot. I notice tingling all of the time if I'm still enough.
I also have problems with my right arm and hand going to sleep at night. There have been times when I have been unable to move my arm which usually happens at night in bed or when I'm just sitting in a chair.
HI,
Tingling , like pins and needles, began in my left arm and hand in 2005. It was thought as that time to be a precursor (aura) to my migraines. It only affected my left arm and it took 2+ years for it spread to my left foot.
All EMG testing ruled out carpel tunnel. In fact, ALL my EMGs were negative.
Mine was initially said to be anxiety but I insisted I wasn't anxious except for the lack of dx. Besides it was one sided, anxiety usually is
both hands.
I was dx 4.5 years after the start of the tingling symptoms after visits to various visits my general neuro set up for me to find the correct dx.

Sorry I hit post too soon. 7 yrs later my hands would tingle and I had to carpel tunnel during a pregnancy. I had been recently dx with hypothyroidism so my doc contributed it to that.
This past May it started again. In both hands and feet. This time it came with pain and I started the process of getting a ms dx. I was dx in July.
Mine started 10 yrs ago. One day I woke up and my toes on my left foot felt like the were asleep. It slowly progressed up my left leg to my knee. The next day my left hand felt the same way and it progressed up to my elbow. That lasted for 6-8 weeks.
7 yrs later my hands would
My 1st two flares included right side numbness tingling. My right leg, arm, face, even my ear were numb. It felt like after you have been numbed at the dentist. I told the er doctor it felt like my thigh was 10x bigger than it normally was. But, it was the same size as my other thigh, just felt swollen.
My normal daily ms tingling feels more like if your hand or foot fell asleep. I also have numbness often in different spots without the tingling. The daily numbness tingling usually only lasts minutes but comes and goes several times a day. Although I have had my hand stay tingling for three days straight. With the flares, the tingling numbness lasted several hours straight. That is my experience, not sure what others feel. I am dx with ms.
