to see another Dr. Or not.

Hello everyone.  January 2 the left side of my body went numb and felt very cold. Face and all. I couldn't walk, slurred speech. Went to EL and they quickly chalked it up to a painless migraine.  Which I have never had a migraine before and I don't get headaches unless I'm sick. They gave me a shot of halidol and benadryl and sent me on my way. Went to regular Dr who did a full blood work because I was still having numbness but it was spreading to the right side. Blurred vision, would lose my train of thought quickly. All blood work came back normal. They ruled out stroke. Went to neuro and he did a brain mri with and without contrast to look for MS. Dr. Said no signs of MS on brain.  They did find a 3 mm cyst between my pituitary glands. And basically dismissed me and said it probably was a migraine.  And put me on Keppra. I have this weird pressure like electric feeling in my spine when looking down. I get soon stiff that I need help moving sometimes. My body hurts. I get goosebumps in patches on my arms and legs. I am always exhausted and soo tired of the pins and needles feeling and randomly going numb. If I think back about last summer I felt like I literally had ants crawling on my arm every time I was in the heat. Drove me nuts. I am just wondering if I am being over the top or seeing another Neuro would be a good idea. It has been almost 3 month since the ER visit m

Also my b12 was great!  All my blood work was normal.  B12 levels were above 400.

They didn't do a spine MRI. Just the brain. The dr. Sd he wasn't concerned with the cyst. The reason for the Keppra medication was to help me sleep through the pain basically. He said it doesn't effect my liver of it wouldn't counteract with other medication.  I scheduled a appointment with a different Neuro. I am not even sure how to begin. Getting Into A MS specialist.  I REALLY appreciate you guys for the response.

Hi and welcome to our little MS community,

I definitely think you need a second opinion!!

From my perspective, both silent migraine and MS are questionable, Migraines silent or not do not typically continue for 3+months, MS does not typically move from one side to the other, spread into all peripherals, cause random or different areas to tingle/numb.

"I have this weird pressure like electric feeling in my spine when looking down."

What you are describing 'could be' what's called the Lhermitte's sign, and whilst it is a recognised sx of MS, there are other causes too eg structural spinal issues/damage,  B12 deficiency, transverse myelitis etc and just from this statement, I think it would be in your best interest to get a second opinion.

Cheers...........JJ

Dismissing  a cyst near the pituitary, without scheduling a followup does not sound right to me, MS or not.

From what you describe, I think you would benefit from a second opinion. Would it be possible to see an MS specialist? They can often connect dots that others may see as unrelated. This isn't to say you do or don't have MS, but I do think some of the things you mention deserve a fresh set of expert eyes and the right questions to be asked. Have you had any areas of your spine imaged with MRI?
