twitchy eye and cramps

Hi again all,

I didn't think I would be writing again so soon but I need to ask another question.

Does anybody get cramps in different places all around the same time? I do not have a dx, waiting on mri results and thought I was doing pretty ok these days. I am starting to feel like a hypochondriac if I turn up to my neurologist appointment with a list of irrelevant things that is as long as a bus.

Last night I had an awful time with dozens of very painful foot cramps and hand cramps happening within at regular intervals and they only stopped when I slept. This has happened before but not at this severity. Then half-way I got winded by a cramp in what seemed like my ribs!! What a strange feeling!
Soon after, my left eyelid started twitching and has been twitching since, for 24 hours now. Every couple of minutes or so. The rest of me is fine apart from fairly stiff finger and toes!
Is this in line with MS-like symptoms or other neuro symptoms? I am thinking that if this is all completely irrelevant I won't mention it to the dr. Does anyone know what to do to relieve these (practical advice, not medication)? Am I over-reacting by being worried (esp about the freaky twitchy eye)?

To top it all off, I then lost my balance on the stairs and fell... once more flat on my behind, luckily no damage other than a good-sized bruise. My husband thought I broke my leg as I was screaming the house down, what I couldn't tell him at the time was that it was another foot cramp! Hilarious...

Anyway, any suggestions and sharing of experiences welcomed, hope you are all keeping well.

:-)

Hi D,

Thanks so much for your reply and advice. I am going to read those pages straight away.

I knew little about this disease but I am learning pretty fast... I will add these to my list of symptoms to tell and won't give up on the list at the next appointment; I was too shaken from the conversation of the possible dx mentioned that I abandonded my list last time. I have now also discovered the symptom tracker, it seems like a very useful tool.

5 months of eye twitch must have been annoying to say the least. I hope your accident didn't leave you with anything to add to your symptoms- apart from the injury-related eye twitch of course!! ;-D

I see what you mean about the timeline for dx. I had been pretty bad so far with noting dates, just recording weird symptoms and after months, the timeframe became blurry so now I am asking family and friends to fill in the gaps based on what they remember too. I guess I need to be more vigilant with it.

Off to educate myself...

Thanks again, you've helped loads!

Hello!
I hope you are ok after your fall.  That can be scary.

As far as all of your twitches and spasms, I am dx'd w/ MS and after my first major attack I got an eye twitch that lasted over 5 months.  I spun out on ice in my car and hit my head a bit and the twitch started shortly there after.

Every Dr I saw ( I was in the process of my dx at this time so it was a few) said the exact same thing " I can see how the stress of a car accident could cause an eye twitch"

I was so frustrated...Hello! 5 months is not normal.  Funny enough, it disappeared after my first day of my first steriod treatment.  HHHMMMM!!! Still no explination on that one.  I wish I could offer some natural alternative :(

I also have the rib issue.  It is very strange and I never even connected it to being neurological until last month.  But I do think now that yes it is spasticity from neurological problems.  I can't say for sure and of course you DO Definately need to mention these things to your Dr.

In the Health Pages here there is an article about the importance of a timeline.

Diagnosing MS is based alot on the onset of new symptoms at seperate intervals in time.

Also read the health pages on parasthesias and spasticity as they may help you understand how many wierd little issues MS and other neuro problems can cause.

I do hope you get an answer soon.
Take care
D
