I was prescribed neurontin from the pain clinic October 2010.
After 2 weeks I could not communicate effectively or think straight, got very depressed and started having suicidal thoughts. (it had helped for the tingling and nerve pain).
I asked for an emergency appointment to stop taking it. The doctor would not take me off it and told me it was my only hope of getting better. At this stage No doctor, or myself considered MS.
Anyway after 3 months of complete on-the-edge living and almost a relationship breakup, I stopped taking it myself. The sensations came back, but I also got my hope and lust for life back too.
It can be a dangerous drug for some, and the benefits are outweighed by the side effects.
I take Neurontin, 2 at night and I'm supposed to take one during the day, but I can't b/c I get too drowsy. I have noticed weight gain, and here lately I'm having major tingling, pins and needles, burning, numbness, pain and the neurontin isn't touching it. The heat I think is the culprit. If anyone else has ideas for the numbness, please share!! :)
Blessings and good luck!

I took neurontin for a while until the side affects got to be to much. Some people can take it with no problem. It helped with my nerve pain until the dosage got increased too much and I could no longer take it.
I now take lyrica, it helps a lot with the burning sensations that I get, it helps with the nerve pain too. Also helps with the sensitive skin that I get where I feel like I have a sunburn but I am not.
Hope this helps,
Paula
I took Neurontin for nerve problems also but it made me nutty so the doctor gave me Gabitril. I don't know if it can help in your situation but it would be worth asking a doctor about. Hope that helps.
