Wow, I never thought about it being related to my MS, but I can't talk for very long before my voice goes hoarse. I have 2 lesions on my brainstem, maybe it's related to that. I constantly carry a bottle of water with me.

I have damage to my autonomic nervous system from ms according to my drs. I am wondering if this contributes yo the voice problem. Good thing my kids are grown as I couldn't even yell at them now with this problem. Just kidding:)
I am going to tell my dh I have the Demi Moore voice. He likes her.lol
Yes, I have issues with hoarseness. My voice also sometimes catches like you describe, especially when projecting it like when doing a presentation.
It can be due to MS or many other causes. In MS it is caused by damage to the 10th cranial nerve (vagus) which emerges from the brainstem and innervates the larynx.
My doc believes mine is due to MS, it started during my 3rd relapse a few years ago, and comes and goes. I do have a brainstem lesion.
My husband calls it my Demi Moore voice.
Never heard of this being a sx of MS. It has never happened to me. Sorry.

Hi Beema,
Yes, I also have this problem... My voice often goes hoarse... Before I even knew anything was wrong with me my friends would comment on how I sure was hoarse a lot...
The sad thing is it is a symptom of MS... My doctor has never offered up anything for it except to rest my voice when this happens and it will come back quicker... Sorry I'm not any help but maybe someone else can jump in...
I'll be praying,
Carol
