hypoxic Itschemic Encephalopathy

Dear Doctor, I have a new burn grandson which 8 days he burned and he is in special care room and monitor him for HIE and he had breathing problem. we are all worry and think what will be happen for him. do we sure it will treat and we are waiting for MIR and other tests so can you explain this brain damage will gradually treatable and please let us what we should do?

I would like to mention our new born baby is in emergency room and he had breathing problem and when borne for a few minute did not breath and now he is in emergency room and the doctors monitored his brain and his brathing is getting better but we all worry what we can do and by special pipe give him milk and try her mother go and try he try to suck but not succeeded and please give us information

It sounds like there are many things happening for your grandson, including breathing problems and perhaps some concern about the brain.

Because it sounds like such a complicated situation, I cannot really advise you about what to expect.  I suggest that you ask the parents whether it would be OK with them if you attended any meetings between them and the doctors.  If the parents agree to this, then you can get the best information directly from your grandson's doctors.

On the other hand, the parents may want some confidentiality about their son's medical condition and plan.  If this is the case, it would be best if you respect their wishes and get your information through them.
