is there more than just one way to fix gastro?

my baby has the abdominal wall defect and i was wondering if there was any other way to fix it besides surgery .

There is no other way to fix gastroschisis other than surgery, although there are different surgical approaches to the procedure.  As long as the intestines are outside the abdomen, there is a chance that they can twist or have other problems in blood flow obstruction that can case the intestine to be injured.  The various approaches to gastroschisis repair all involve putting the intestines back into the abdomen, although it might take several days to accomplish.  It usually then takes anywhere from 1 week to several weeks for the intestines to start working well enough that the baby can take all of its feeding by mouth (as opposed to IV nutrition).
