larynx myalgia

My 1 month old granddaughter has wheezing when she is bottle feeding and when she cries.  Her chest caves in sometimes because she seems to be breathing so hard.  The dr says she is getting enough oxygen and the ent specialist says she has larynx myalgia.  He said she should out grow in by 18 mos.  What is this and what do we need to be concerned about and watch for.  Thanks.

"Laryngomalacia" is a condition where there the tissue around the vocal cords is more "floppy" than usual.  This allows the tissue to collapse a bit around the vocal cords under certain conditions, such as hard sucking/swallowing or crying.  ENT doctors are the specialists who take care of this condition, and your granddaughter should continue to follow up with the ENT doctor who has been seeing her.  Most babies outgrow the symptoms of laryngomalacia.
