1 month headache and neck pain

by plover85, Sep 25, 2008 02:07AM
On August 23rd, I had a terrible headache, and stiffness in the neck.  I vomited and was up with the pain for the entire night.  Until five days ago, I have had the head and neck pain, though they have been dull, and though not too painful, are irritating to live with.  I find that applying pressure to my neck, applying pressure to the inner upper corners of my browbone, and yoga help relieve the headache a little.  Five days ago, it disappeared, but yesterday it came back.
As a kid, I got migraines frequently, they felt like someone was cutting my head in half, always were accompanied by vomiting, and usually happened when I was dehydrated or in the sun.  They pretty much disappeared when I hit puberty.  The headache on the 23rd was comparable to these headaches in intensity, which I hadn't had in years.  About four years ago, I started getting headaches and neck stiffness when I PMS'd, and considered these fairly normal.  Lately, though, the headaches have been lasting longer than their usual 3-4 days, and finally I have had the one headache that lasted nearly a month.  The current headache always is accompanied by neck pain, and I never have one without the other.  The headache is more of a dull throb than the headaches I used to get as a kid, and when I was younger I was photosensitive with no neck pain, which is not the case now.  I have never had a headache last for a month before, and am concerned about it, as even for a person who has lived with headaches, this does not seem normal.
