I'm sorry to learn about her condition. From the latest symptoms, it is best that she be seen by her doctors as soon as possible. Increased sleeping time may mean that she's suffering from stroke like conditions that can be a direct consequence of the carotid blockage (since this is the major blood supply to the brain). She might need invasive procedures such as embolectomy, or carotid endarterectomy to clear out the obstruction.
I hope that once you are able to bring her to her doctors, everything will turn out OK.
