30 white matter lesions

by CASSIE159, May 05, 2009 05:15PM
I AM A 59 YEAR OLD FEMALE.  I PASSED OUT AND THEY DID AN MRI.  IT SHOWED EXTENSIVE SUPRATENTORIAL WHITE MATTER SIGNAL ALTERATIONS THERE IS PREFERENTIAL INVOLVEMENT OF THE SUBCORTICAL WHITE MATTER AND CENTRUM SEMIOVALE. THE PERIVENTRICULAR WHITE MATTER IS ALSO INVOLVED TO A LESSER EXTENT. THE NEURO DR. SAID HE WAS SUPRISED I WAS WALKING. SAID IT DID NOT LOOK LIKE MS AND TO COME BACK IN 6 MONTHS FOR ANOTHER MRI. NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM GOING TO THE MAYO CLINIC.  I HAVE NO SYMPTOMS EXCEPT FOR THE ONE EPISODE OF PASSING OUT.  ANY SUGGESTIONS?

To: Dear Cassie
You are a strong lady and as the MRI had revealed so much the clinician wants to see the progression after 6 months.

In a brain disease the risk of operation is compared to the quality of life you are leading, as you only passed out once he wants to wait for 6 months and if you do not have any symptoms or no growth etc he will not put you into surgery and other difficult treatment modules.

So you can go ahead to Mayo Clinic and take care!
