4 month old diagonosed with arachnoidcyst

Hi we just found out on tuesday that our 4 month old baby was diagonoised with a arachnoidcyst im trying to get some information about this we were sent home with no information and no phone call back about whats going to be the corse for action all we know is he needs to see a nurosurgen or a nurologist i dont even remember im scared and need some help........

arachnoid cysts are usually incidental findings, meaning that they are found accidentally. a lot of the time, they are harmless. they are filled with cerebrospinal fluid. sometimes they can grow which may cause some problems (e.g. headaches, seizures etc), but many people live without experiecing any symptoms. treatment generally involves a shunt that is placed in the brain to drain the fluid into the stomach, for example - but this is only done when the cyst is significantlly impacting a person's life. unless the cyst is gigantic, the neurologist will probably say its nothing, and to return for an mri in a year or two to check its size.
