6yr old had seizure w/complications afterward and bad EEG's

Aaron a seizure at school about three months ago. He also had focal seizures that I saw while we were in the waiting room at the ER.  Following the ER visit he went home and went to slee for like 12 hrs but it wasn't normal sleep.  He was kicking and crying in his sleep.  The next morning his right side was weak.  So much so he couldn't walk very far and he had developed a limp with his right leg.  He also had blurred vision at times would see "SCRATCHES" on the walls and celing at times even though there was nothing there.  These symptoms lasted up to 2 weeks following the last seizure.  
CAT scan was neg.
MRI= Note is made of some subtle assymmetry of the temporal horn to the latteral ventricles, greater on the right than the left, but no definite signal changes are seen in the medial temporal lobe to suggest medial temporal sclerosis, otherwise neg MRI of the brain.
Sleep Deprived EEG=The EEG shows seizure tendency with numerous epileptiform discharged sometimes with a right sided predominance.
Awake EEG= Epileptiform discharges, bifrontal, maximal right frontotemporal. EEG is remarkable for the presance of bifrontal epileptiform discharges indication seizure tendency.
Aaron had developed severe eye pain only at night around 10 about 1 month ago. His pupils will get big then small and thes he would just scream in agony. The pain would come in waves. The neuro put him on Amitriptyline HCL 10mg so he could sleep through the pain at night. I Aaron into a bigger hospital, please tell me some questions that need to be asked also comments or remarks you would have. Thanks

Sorry to hear about your son. Glad that you're trying to find more specialized help for him.  It sounds like he will need an extensive neurologic and metabolic workup which should include blood, urine, and genetic studies and possibly a spinal tap. Things that will be important for the physicians: history of meningitis or seizures as an infant/newborn, any developmental delay or other behavioral problems, medication history, and family history.  Bring all MRIs not just the report to the consulting physicians.  A formal neuro-ophthalmologic exam may also be considered with the complaints of eye pain.  In a young child with new onset of seizures and headache, I would tend to be aggressive in my diagnostic evaluation so that the appropriate treatment can be initiated ASAP. Thanks for your time and concerns.  Aaron had the seizures on March 11, 03 and they still can't figure out what is going on with him.  He has had an eye exam and the eye pressure was fine.  Also the optic nerve was fine as well as the structure. The eye doc said that whatever "eye" pain he was having was neurological.  Aaron also has been having neck pain only at night.  It is like a spasm of the neck muscles that sometimes pulls his head to the left. I did forget to say that when he has the eye pain under his eyes around his nose and mouth turn completly white.  Like he's not getting enough O2, but he is breathing fine. You can see all the veins in his face, he just looks terrible.  Thing is we live in such a small town that the doctors here haven't seen anything like this and all they are doing for him is giving him the medicine to sedate him so he can sleep. Which is great but they are not addressing what is causing the pain and activity on the EEG's. I really don't know how else I can help him.  I am very sorry to say that I have lost all faith in his doctors.  I have to call them to remind them to call for the referals and to make his appointments and such.  You would think with his problems they would get everything done quickly but no it takes forever.
