8 mm renal aneurysm

I just had a cat scan because of diverticulitis, where an 8mm rt renal aneurysm was detected.  I have had several tests, ultra sound, and tomorrow have an angiography scheduled.   My sister had an aneurysm in the same spot several years ago and had to have surgery.  What do physicians normally do for an aneurysm in that area?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

The aneurysm needs to be repaired to prevent a rupture. Renal aneurysms are repaired by angioplasty. But sometimes partial nephrectomy may be needed. Other options are coil embolization and Stent grafting.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
