9 years old boy with Bilateral Optic Nerve Glioma

by MN_Chu, Mar 28, 2008 10:34AM
A nine years old boy, vision worse than 6/60, due to bilateral optic nerve glioma. He has bed-vetting occasionally, peeing frequently ( 2-3 times in 5 minutes), vomiting, and screaming after wake up from sleep. What can a parent do tho help this child? Will the vision recover, and what is the best treatment for this? His tumor has invaded optic chism abnd optic  tract. Nystamus is one of the symptom too. For the last 72 hours, only slept for 8 hours, even though he is very tired, but he frequent peeing keep him from sleep.  We refused radiotherapy, and surgical worry of instant blindness. Due to lack of expertise in Malaysia, parent do not have confidence to go fo drastic treatment such as gamma-knife and surgery. Will cyber-knife a better solutin, or observation is the better solution? Thanks
