A Rare Form of GBS?

A Rare Form of GBS?

Evening all.
Just three days ago, one of my close relatives was diagnosed with Guillaine-Barre syndrome after two weeks of multiple visits to the GP, hospital and a neurology specialist. The Neurologists at my local hospital and several surrounding hospitals have never come across the form of GBS that she has - this form affects the upper abdomen and the neck/head. She has severe difficulty swallowing, blurred vision, movement disabilities, heavily slurred speech, minor facial paralysis and she continues to complain of a feeling of severe "liquid/water" pressure in her spine and lower neck. Unfortunately we cannot find much helpful information about this seemingly rare strain of GBS and are stuck, as nobody can tell us much and are loathe to do anything that might make her condition worse.
1) Could you spot any flaws in the diagnosis? Could this not actually be Guillaine-Barre?
2) If this is, indeed, GBS, do you reccomend any form of treatment that a doctor might suggest for a more common form of GBS?
Any help AT ALL is much appreciated!
