ALS - bulbar onset questions

Hi,

I will try to make this as short as possible. My ALS fears started about two months ago, after beginning to develop widespread twitching and tingling (no weakness). Additionally, I was (am) experiencing what I would describe as simply a ``strange`` throat issue, wherein the part of the throat leading up to the nasal cavity (feels like the top of the back of my throat) often feels constricted, and as though a tiny piece of food may be stuck there. This feeling seems to come and go, and get better and worsen. Also, most recently my jaw and ears have also started to ache (again, not constant).

So, I have been to see a neurologist, who performed his own comprehensive exam and did not find evidence of any neurological abnormalities, and did not recommend EMG testing.

However, out of an abundance of caution, I had my primary physician refer me directly to an EMG clinic. I had two rounds done, one week apart. One of the limbs (one arm and leg, four spots in each), and the next in the jaw, the throat, and the back. I was lucky enough to actually have a neurologist who is experienced in diagnosing ALS run both EMGs for me, and read out the results as he was doing them. He stated that none of the testing showed any abnormalities, and nothing that was even borderline.

So my question is this - I continue to experience twitching pretty much everywhere, although mainly in my face (because this seems to be where my current focus lies), and I continue to have these odd throat sensations and discomforts. Can I be safely reassured by all of the neurological exam and two EMGs, one specifically of the bulbar region? I should note that I do not have trouble swallowing, chewing, or speaking.

Thanks for your input!
