I have been experiencing all-over twitching for 4 months with subjective
weaknessWeakness in upper legs and buttocks and upper arms, and tight feelings (not cramps) in
hamstrings and buttocks. My doctor (I have not yet been referred to a neurologist) pointedly asked me if I also have eye twitches in addition to the other twitching.
When I indicated that I did, he seemed to feel there was nothing to worry about. On exam, there was no demonstrable
weaknessWeakness, and
reflexesBabinski's reflex
Infantile reflexes
Moro reflex
Urge incontinence were
normalNormal saline flush. I do, however,
experience muscle shaking on exertion, but the strength seems to still be there (although I feel weak) - can exercise, draw a bow set at 40 lb. draw weight, etc.
My question is, do people with ALS also experience eye twitching? I have always heard that eye muscles are spared, and since
fasciculationsMuscle twitching are supposed to occur in
muscles that are weak, would eye twitching tend to indicate a likely
benignBenign ear cyst or tumor
Benign positional vertigo condition?
Thank you for your time.

Eye twitching is not a feature of ALS, you seem to have some form of
benign fasiculation syndrome, which may occassionally involve eye muscles.
The absence of objective weakness or reflex abnormalities in the
fasiculating muscles would strongly support the probability that this is not ALS.
I think you rbest option would bve to obtain a referral to a neurologist
and have an EMG which will clarify this question beyond any doubt.
