AVM'S--BASILCELL CANCER--PRELUEKEMIA

by Luthercoop, Jan 11, 2001 12:00AM
My family Doctor says that some of my conditions are possibly caused my exposure to and the handling of Benzene-Crude oils-aeromatics and other chemicals as a Petroleum inspector(handling-sampling and quantifying). My Doctors at M.D.Anderson are not saying they agree or disagree, but are concerned about the treatment rather than the cause.(which I do appreciate)But I need some answers or closure. What are the possibilities of this
with working millions of gallons of benzene-crude oils which is the heavy part of benzene before refining and several other products blowing in my face and inhaling and touching while working these things and and just constant exposure in general?
Is it possible the problems I am going through are related to this and the preluekemia ,is it related to this or could this be the results of a transfusion I had in 1992?I really have a lot to worry about without adding the why's,but I need to some relief of the posibilities to find out what my next step besides the treatments I need to take.
Thank you very for your time and I hope you can help me in some way or fefer me to someone who can.

Dear Luthercoop:

I am sorry to hear about your state of health.  Certainly environmental toxins can influence your health.  Whether your exposure caused your specific condition is unknown, and likely you will not find out (unfortunate).  There are specific centers that specialize in environmental toxins and cancer.  I would try the looking at the sites form the NIH Cancer Center, Center for environmental and neurological toxicology at the Oregon Health Sciences University, etc. on the internet.

Sincerely,

CCF Neuro MD
