Acoustic Neuroma

About 4 years ago, in Feb 2004, I discovered, due to some minor symptoms, that I have an Acoustic Neuroma.

In June 2004 I chose to have a Fractionated Gamma Knife procedure. I had no symptoms ever since.

Just recently, about 2-3 months ago, I started to have some odd symptoms, like imbalance, some numbness on the left side of the mouth, and I noticed that I am not moving my left hand or left leg that accurately.


On the last MRI report, the radiologist mentioned something about a beginning of a hydrocephalus and also, something about 2 cystic areas on the brain (not of the tumor), that might cause an extra pressure, determining these new symptoms.


However, I would really appreciate your expert opinion regarding what are my best options right now, since I do not know what to do next.

I think what symptoms are been described suggest some compression on right side of brain.
Hydrocephalus is excessive accumulation of fluid spaces in brain. This excessive accumulation results in an abnormal dilation of the ventricles, which causes pressure on the tissues of the brain.
Adults can have symptoms like headache followed by vomiting, nausea, blurred vision, double vision, and problems with balance, poor coordination, disturbance while walking, urinary incontinence, drowsiness, irritability, or other changes in personality or cognition including memory loss.
I think you should consult a neurosurgeon and discuss regarding any shunt placement.
