Well, obviously staying the way you are will not do at all.  You have had a fall and injured yourself, it just so happens your hardware was affected and is now causing you pain.  You can get a second opinion from your regular doctor about an operation of some kind to fix everything.  I might add that you can get a crack in a bone and just stabilizing it will allow it to heal, like in difficult areas of the tailbone, so a backbrace might be in order for that.

I am so sorry you have had so many surgeries!  Back surgery is an iffy thing, but if it's needed, by golly you gotta have it.  Me, my back is tore up in three places from a car wreck and is wrenched into a deformed C shape.  I've considered surgery, but have decided to just wait until I have to choose between a wheelchair or surgery, mainly becuz spine surgery is so very difficult to manage.  But you, you have your last surgery come undone from injury and that MUST be fixed, you cannot go around with the whole works loosened up and hurting!  Besides, you risk injuring the spinal cord itself if everything comes totally apart in there.

So, either go ahead and let your doc fix you back up, or get a second opinion on the matter before proceeding.  But I cannot imagine any scenario where a repair isn't needed.  I'm sorry you will have to have another surgery, surgery is very hard to withstand, and then there's weeks of pain, it's all very tough.

You may also wish to review how in the world you had a fall and do everything you can to avoid it, like perhaps getting one of these roller walkers to sort of protect your travel movements here and there, or possibly get into some physical therapy to strenghten your muscles so you will have less of a tendency to actually go to the ground when you trip up..
