Adverse reaction to Prevacid? Muscle weakness

I have had acid reflux now for the last two month and the Dr. started me on Prevacid and it worked great but after two weeks on the medicine my muscles started cramping and becoming very weak after use. I would have muscle spasms and be very fatigued.

I stopped taking the prevacid and my reflux symptoms were gone for about a month but the muscle problems were present.  About a month later the muscle weakness went away but the acid reflux came back so I went back to the doctor and they prescribed Zantac and said it worked differently.
I have been on it for a week and the same thing is happening.

Does anyone know anything about this?  I have been to a neurologist and had clear MRI, EMG, etc.

Any thoughts?

I have had weakness and fatigue from Prevacid.  Aciphex and Zegerid work best for me with little or not side effects.

Thank you for your response.  I did have an examination with MRI of Brain and EMG, he said they were both clear.  Would you suggest another test to ask for or should I go for a second opinion? These symptoms seem to come and go but they are not as severe as they were initially.

Hello.

It is likely that the weakness and fatigue are not side effects of the drugs you are taking, but they are appearing when you are stressed. You need to see a neurologist and get a thorough examination done.
