Advice re: child with mild hypotonia, language delay, with Babinski sign

My 4 year old son has a receptive and expressive language disorder. In addition, he had very mild low tone. He gets PT, OT and speech for these things. However, it was noted at his age 4 pediatric exam that he has a Babinski sign on the left foot. The doctor recommended an MRI, but I am not really excited about sedating my son for the test. His mild impairments are improving every day, by leaps and bounds. You could not even tell him apart in a room full of kids. He is getting stronger, faster, and doing everyhing other kids do.

We have been to a neurologist, who said that my son does not show signs of a progressive disease like MS. However I really do not recall the plantar response test being done at his office.

My question: do I need to get the MRI done? If my son had MS or brain cancer, would he be improving in all of his activities and progessing wonderfully?

I would not worry at all since he is progressing- but I also know what an MRI could show and it scares me.

Our almost  4 year old has mild hypotonia. We opted out of the MRI for the same reasons as you (sedation complications). Our son continues to improve every day. We do not know the cause but we do know he's always improving with our help.
