Affraid To Find Out

by Angel__0, Aug 24, 1998 12:00AM

I am afraid to find out if I have a brain tumor or not. See, in 1996 I had a bad head on collision. I hit my head pretty bad, I don't even remember driving. I had stiches in my head but didn't break my skull. I did have swelling. I went to a doctor to get my stiches removed, he noticed my swelling, gave me some pills, said that I need to have a CAT scan done every 6 months and said my double vision was nothing. I've never been to a doctor since. I've been getting more headaches, more often, and worse than ever before. I get sick to my stomach, and my double vision comes back when I have headaches. I don't sleep at night anymore and I get angry at the smallest things. I really can't afford a doctor and I am really really affriad to know the truth. But the pain, sleeplessness and heartache it is causing me and my family is killing me. Please help. Thanks,Angel

I don't know what to advise you if you can't get to see a doctor.
If it helps any, your headaches are much less likely to be a brain tumor and more likely to be related to other factors (post-trauma, stress, migraine, etc). The unfortunate thing for you is that headaches are often very treatable and you may be missing an opportunity for relief. Is it possible for this to be a brain tumor. I suppose so. Is it likely? No.
Please, do whatever you can to get to a good doctor. You are welcome to come to CCF if it is practical. There is a headache center here inthe department of neurology. Call 800 223-2273 and ask for neurology appointments at 4-5559.
I hope this helps. CCF MD mdf.
