Age For MS

What is the earlest year that one can get MS and what is the oldest?

Hello.

There are reports of onset of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in children as young as 5 years, with MRI findings in the brain and also in age more than 60 years. But such incidences are few.

I was found to have MS and I was 52. I went to a doctor and I was told that I was too old to have MS and that I had a sleep disorder. He told me that only people in their 20,30, and 40's are know to get MS and not any body my age. I have had MS for 4 years now and was told that I could not have MS.

Hello.

It is true that most of the cases of MS are in the age group of 20 to 40 years. The age of diagnosis is not as important as the clinical features and MRI and some other laboratory investigations. Do you have clinical features and/or laboratory investigations suggestive of MS?

It was fairly extensive signal abnormality primarily involving whhite matter in a periventricular distribtution as involing the brainstem and right middle cerebellar peduncle and possobly the body of the corpus....there was more
