Allergic reaction to Verapamil??

by JaclynDT, Oct 06, 2008 11:31AM
Since I have stopped talking Verapamil [last wk] after being rushed to the ER for shortness of breath and chest pain, I am STILL having the discomfort... I have been told that maybe I had an allergic reaction to the medication and if that is the case I am wondering how long the pain may last... and if there is anything I can do to make it subside. It is very bothersome and makes me extremely nervous which makes my anxiety go through the roof. They did take xrays, a cat scan and an EKG at the ER and they said everything was fine so I am hoping that is really true.

ANY thoughts would be sooooooooo appreciated.

Thanks as always.

This posting might be year off -but figured I would do it anyways..
verapamil ccb  cal channel blocker medication - there are meny side effects and allergic reactions from this medication.  iv been on it off and on for over 4years,as Doctors refuse to change the medications. first the  shortness of breath is common from this drug ,loss of energy! no get up and go !  happens its most likely the doctor gave you to high a dose of it, but it can happen when on this drug. the chest pains with most b.p medications iv found, they can cause chest pains (angina ) to happen. sometimes right off and sometimes delayed. as well muscular stiffness and heavy cramping can happen. bloating of belly and trapped gas can happen.  sleep apnea can happen! no sleep - or nightmares
as well another unwanted allergic reaction is heavy eye lids at night and
lid muscular problems where they dont want to open when waking up after sleeping even a few hours.   there are meny side effects and allergic reacations that can happen from these drugs.. it makes you wonder why, they allow these medications to be released or handed out !  as they do in most cases cause more harm than good.

welcome to the real world of ginnypig testing !
