Dear Anne:
I have read you earlier posting. Your case is quite complex. Without the opportunity of seeing in consultation, I do not think we can offer you any definite suggestions.
Based on the information available, I would think that your symptoms are quite non-specific and do not seem to amount to any real neurological diagnosis. In contrast, they quite precisely match the criteria of
somatizationSomatization disorder disorderAdjustment disorder
Anorexia nervosa
Asperger syndrome
Autism
Autoimmune disorders
Bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder
Bleeding disorders
Borderline personality disorder
Bulimia
Chronic motor tic disorder, which is a psychiatric diagnosis.
I do not see a mention of a recent lumbar puncture in your note. As a rule, meningitis is not diagnosed in the absence of documentation of an abnormal cerebrospinal fluid. I see no reason to suspect that you have any neurological involvement from HSV-2 genital infection.
I do not think your symptoms can be attributed to allergies, sinusitis, or amalgam fillings.
If neurological and infectious disease evaluations from academic institutions have not yielded a definite cause of your symptoms, serious consideration of an underlying psychiatric disorder (stress-related or otherwise) would be most appropriate.
Good luck!
