Any Updates on MFS?

by Juszae, Mar 21, 2008 06:41PM
The last article was written June of 2000.  It's been almost 8 years since this has been a discussion about Miller Fischer.

I was recently diagnosed with Miller Fischer's Syndrome.  Similarly to the previous blog, I was originally admitted to the hospital on a misdiagnosis, mild stroke. I was given a CT scan, MRA, two MRI’s, lumbar puncture, and a series of blood test.  An infectious disease doctor was called and ran her own series of tests; a separate series of blood test, Candida and TB test and pumped me full of antibiotics to flush out any virus.  Everyday I took pills to flight the flu or any virus, and anti-fungal IV/s and painkillers throughout the day.  I was unable to walk; my vision was blurred and doubled, dizziness, no reflexes, and migraines.  Also, my blood pressure varied, but remained higher than normal.  My symptoms became increasingly worse and the doctors decided to treat me with IVIG.  After the third day of treatment, I was able to stand and take steps, by the fifth day I was completely stable, I was released from with hospital on a walker and I still had double vision.   Today, things are going well, I am walking and any health inconveniences are less frequent.  However, it has been 6 weeks and my vision is still doubled and blurred.  Have there been any recent updates on the term of this syndrome?  Also, what can I do to speed the recovery process?
