Any idea what the hell I have?

38 yr old male 150 lbs 165cm

5 weeks ago I woke in the middle of the night and felt dizzy the only way to get it to stop was to lay straight facing forward. It went the day after and then 2 days later it returned and has stayed with me since.

I feel constantly light headed, my eyes feel strained - When your sleeping and you just wake up and your eyes feel lazy and you have to focus them well thats how mine feel. I am not sure if I am imagining it but I think I am finding it hard to find the right word when I describe things and I end up stopping mid conversation and saying "that err you know err what's it again? I have tinnitus  in my ears and when I close my eyes to sleep my eyelids twitch a little and instead of seeing black its like a bright black? does that make sense? like a goldy black kind of like what you see in negative prints.

I am very worried I feel I have brain cancer, tumor or something very sinister - Anyone had these symptoms? I would appreciate any comments

do you also feel like you are spinning or moving? if so, the symptoms you are experiencing sound like vertigo. in general, vertigo is associated with a host of different diseases, and sometimes, it is completely benign. the most common type of vertigo is benign positional vertigo, wherein there is a disturbance in the inner ear which can easily be remedied by doing certain exercises.

look up the exercise: Epley's maneuver

i don't know what may be causing you to see a brighter shade of black when you close your eyes.

signs and symptoms of a brain tumor include (according to http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/brain-tumor/DS00281/DSECTION=2):

New onset or change in pattern of headaches
Headaches that gradually become more frequent and more severe
Unexplained nausea or vomiting
Vision problems, such as blurred vision, double vision or loss of peripheral vision
Gradual loss of sensation or movement in an arm or a leg
Difficulty with balance
Speech difficulties
Confusion in everyday matters
Personality or behavior changes
Seizures, especially in someone who doesn't have a history of seizures — as with epilepsy, for example
Hearing problems
Hormonal (endocrine) disorders

because you don't seem to be experiecing many of these symptoms, the likelihood that you have a brain tumor is low, in my opinion.

you could always get an MRI if you want to be certain.

In my 30s, I was working too many hours.  I worked in front of a computer all day, transcribing recordings into the printed word.  I worked six days a week, 10 to 12 hours a day, for about a two-month stretch, so my sleep was affected.  Eventually I couldn't find my words, got dizzy walking down store aisles, almost passed out in my chair a couple times.  As soon as I quit that job, I got better.

So, eye strain and mental strain, working in front of a computer without a break, poor sleep from exhaustion, these things caused similar symptoms to yours.  Just my feedback to consider.

Ggreg when you say dizzy walking down store aisles is it stores with bright flourescent overhead lights? Do you feel like you are drugged up? Like you cant think straght? I have that too. I have constant ringing in my ears(ent says it is nerve damage from concerts). I have vision disturbances liek glaucoma but my eye specialist says it isnt although I tested borderline in several tests. All he said was that I could get glaucoma an that I had a mucusy film on my eye. I have trouble with forgeting words and finishing sentences at times. I have been having trouble sleeping. It would be nice to know what the heck this is.

Dear North,
You asked me about the store aisles.  Inside the store, it was the movement of the passing shelves on both sides of me.  When I would come outside and it's bright out, that goofed me up, too.  It was any change in light or movements that made me dizzy.  That's because my eyes were so tired from lack of sleep and staring at a computer all day, that they could not adjust.  But you also say ringing in the ears, which when coupled with visual problems, suggests vertigo.  The whole concentration deal was lack of sleep for me.  Oh, and I also had borderline readings with glaucoma.  I don't know about that film on your eye, though.
