Any idea what this is?

Any idea what this is?

I am being checked for MS and I'm not sure what to make of this. I had 1 lesion on MRI, intermittent numbness on R side, tingling on my face, bladder spasms, abnormal EP's, blurred vision and diploia.

Recently I have noticed when I am sitting in a chair, if I raise my heel off the floor my leg begins to shake. It happens mostly in the right leg, on occasion it has happened in both but this happens mostly when I get warm/hot. The last time it happened it seemed to be the worst yet. I was sitting in the sun and could feel my leg start to tremble. When I went to stand, my leg felt very weak, and tingly. The weak feeling lasted for a few hours afterwards, the tingling went away pretty much after I cooled off. The best way I can describe it, my leg felt like jello. My leg still feels weak and occasionaly will trip over my own two feet. I have also had some trouble recenly swallowing - choking on water/saliva. My R arm strength just don't feel as strong as it had and always dropping things from my hand.

Do these point to any one particular area - head, C-spine, T-spine?

I know without you examing me, it would be difficult for you to say, but any ideas?

Thanks :)

THe leg symptoms could be coming from the brain or spine, but in combination with the bladder symptoms the spine should  be evaluated with an MRI with gadolinium (dye). With arm and leg involvement, the problem would be up in the cervical spine at the very least or in the brain. Patients with MS do have worsening of their symptoms with heat as the electrical message cannot travel well from neuron to neuron with an increase in temperature. I'm not quite sure exactly what your symptoms represent except maybe it is a form of weakness. Finally, if the tests are equivocal inthe diagnosis of MS, consider a spinal tap for confirmation. Best o f luck.

I have been battling weakness off and on for the past year on the right side. I did have a C-spine MRI last year, which was ok. I was curious if this could possibly come from the T-spine. (The first trouble I had was diplopia and bilateral leg numbness and T-spine MRI was never done even though Transverse myelitis was suspected). It just seems so strange that both of these symptoms came about at almost the same time. Thank you for your help.

I have similar symptoms to you. I have been getting pain and loss off sensation, pins and needles, in my arms and legs for about 6mths. I have also felt off balance and dizzy all of the time. My concentration is non existant, and I have constant headaches and migranes (migraines) at least 3 times a week. I am aching all over and have no energy. I have been diagnosed with anxiety disoder, with no triggers! I also have irritable bowel syndrome...so anti inflams are not an option...it is not worth the added pain! I was diognosed with vertigo, and siatica 2 weeks ago...and was told there was nothing I could do outside of taking anti-inflams and physio. Last time I went to a physio they told me not to bother because it made me worse! I decided I had to try something ...so I went to see a chiropractor. He had x rays taken of my back, and discovered I had a major scoliosis, and severe neck damage! He is convinced that a lot of my disorders are probably related or at least agrivated by my back problem...I had no idea it was so bad! Maybe you should get your back checked just in case!

The bouncing legs thing... My uncle has MS, and when he was in his wheelchair before he lost function of his lower body (his MS was progressive I think) his legs would bounce.  His trick, grab under your leg and lift it.  The bouncing stops.  I've heard people whose MS wasn't so severe mention it to, so don't worry too bad... I get that too, but I'm not sure if it is because I can't control it or am acting out subconsciously because I am bored :)
