Arachnoid Cyst

My nephew is 3 years old and he has a cyst in/on his
left side of his brain. It was discovered because of
an unrelated injury. I am trying to research which is
the best/recommended procedure endo surgery or a
shunt???
Please advice more options for my search.
Thank you,
Amanda

I have two brain cysts/tumors; one on each side of my brain. Is your nephew having any symptoms like seizures, fainting, headaches that kind of thing? I have a seizure disorder that is caused by my cysts. My cysts have not grown and I have had them since birth (but didn't know that I had them until I had a seizure in a doctors office. at the age of 25!) My cysts can not be removed but other than my seizures which I have been free from for 5 years (controled by seizure meds) I am doing fine and lead a very normal life of wife, mother and Special ed teacher. I hope this helps and let me know had the little man is doing!
Good luck!

Christy,
Thank you for responding. My nephew James does not have any symptoms that we know of so far. He tugs on his left ear alittle but has never had a seizure or dizziness.  His Dr. said that he should either get a shunt or have Endo Surgery to drain it. I was looking for pros and con for both procedures. We found the cyst because he was playing basket ball and one of the neighbor kids dropped him by accident and he hit his head not in the same location of the cyst. They discovered it from that CAT scan.
