Are bone scans safe??

HI

I am to have a full body bone scan done, and was wondering how safe these are?.(because of bi lateral leg pain. (I do however have L4& L5-S1 herniations and a tear at L4,along with fibo type symptoms)Male 39
Any long term health risks?
Does this have high radiation exposure?
Does the "stuff" they inject, completely leave your system?

Thanks

Although this question is out of the neurology arena, bone scans are a relatively safe procedure that is commonly ordered here at the clinic. The effects from radiation are negligible and I suspect that there is an extremely small incidence(again likely negligible) of long term health risk. This question is best answered by a radiologist.
