Are my symptoms ALS? Very scared as this runs in my family!

I am a 38 year old male and my father died of ALS.  Just recently, within the past 4 months or so, I have been experiencing pain, numbness and tingling in my hands.  My hands used to be very steady and now they shake....not too badly but not perfectly steady.  My legs also shake involuntarily where this never used to happen.  Aside from these symptoms in my hands and legs, I am not experiencing any other issues.  I am just very concerned and nervous as this is what my father died from and I know that there is a 5-10% chance of inheriting this as well.  Are these symptoms of ALS?  What other problems could these symptoms be a result of?

You really should go to a ALS specialist, considering it runs in your family. Their are some pretty definitive tests that can rule out ALS. If it's keeping you up at night you should check it out. You know your body more than anyone else. Any number of things can cause parathesia in your limbs, stress, headaches, nuero-problems, pinch nerves, infection, virus, you name it. But go see a specialist, or at least your PCP to get some peace of mind.

You don't have ALS. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis aka Motor Neurone Disease is exactly that - a progressive disease of the motor neurons. It does not have a sensory component and you have pain, numbess and tingling which are all sensory symptoms. So you may have something but it's not ALS.

Actually in the books it says no sensory symptoms but if you like I have as I had the worry of ALS spoke with many people who have ALS on a forum and some do experience sensory and people with it do have pain from what they have told me.
