At what point will I be considered disable?

I am a 41yo female, I have been diagonosed recently with Papilledema & approx 10yrs ago I was diagnosed with PTC (PseduoTumor Cerebri). The 1st time all my vision was blurred I felt as if I was having a major sinus headache & that my eyeballs we being squeezed like stress balls. Since I work in the medical field I had one of the Eye drs to look at me (Eye Pathology & Opth. are his fields). I'd worked with him a long time & was comfortable with him..immediately he sent me for an spinal tap & brain CT w/&w/o infusion..my opening pressure was at this time 28 or better. I went on DIAMOX til I got better, hadn't really had this issue (that bad) until recently. Now working in another facility I of course asked the Neuro Surgeon (Chief of Staff) & A Neuro Path if what I was at this time experiencing the same & told them of my history. Right away they mention the shunts. Now a male relative of mine has shunts for his eyes & was given DIAMOX (he couldnt take it so he ended up with shunt) He tells me all the time how uncomfortable they are. I DONT want this. Therefore I went back to those who knew my history & also know the docs I work with now. All are highly recommended for this diagnosis. It is now time for me to go back to see NeuroOpthmal. & I am scared. My headaches are now back (after approx 5mos) I just don't know what to feel think or expect right now.. I am a single mom of a 13yr old son who is well aware of what's goin on. If this continues should I truly consider disability. Ive avoided the thought for so long as I feel I am able to work. I just get really scared sometimes that it will happen again to me at work & may be more long term. I believe this 2nd time around it was caught fast enough to avoid all the test & spinal taps...  What do you think? Any suggestions or recommendations?
