Atypical migraine

I went to the ER today after two weeks of dealing with daily head pain.  It's different from headaches I've had before in that it's localized mainly to my left side with some tingling over my head and down my face, with periods of varying intensity.  Sometimes it's a dull pressure, while other times it feels like something is trying to crawl out of my skull.  So far, I have no problems with light or sound sensitivity.

They did a CAT scan at the ER as well as a neurological exam and found nothing abnormal.  The doctor suggested it was an atypical migraine.

I was hoping to find someone who might have a similar experience and what they did to help the pain.  I was given a prescription for headache pain, but a limited supply, not to mention that it causes sleepiness.

Can anyone offer advice on an atypical migraine?  Has anyone experienced something similar?

Thanks,
Kelly
