B12 neuropathy symptoms/criteria

What are the specific symptoms of PN caused by Vitamin B12 deficiency?  How long is the usual course of these symptoms?  Is tingling and then numbness of the lower back a common symptom?  Are peripheral nerves also affected?  Can B12 deficiency cause weakness and, within days, paralysis? Lastly, is it possible to have a severe enough B12 deficiency to cause PN, if you had gastric surgery less than a year prior to the appearance of the first symptoms?  I had preserved reflexes in my legs and a positive Babinski's when paralyzed, so that seems to rule out GBS.  Neurologist says it is not possible to get PN from B12 deficiency, even when I had pernicious anemia, etc. because it takes YEARS for PN to develop. Can't find the symptoms and criteria for B12 deficiency/PN anywhere I have looked.  Would appreciate this knowledge if you can share.  Tahnks so much for this great BBS.
