Back Pain and Neck Pain

Back Pain and Neck Pain

About 2 years ago, I fell down the stairs and hit my head on a tree.  They took me by ambulance and hospital did a CT scan and said I was okay.  Ever since, I've had migraines, severe neck pain, bad vision, and the last year has developed into extreme back pain, upper and lower,  my hip feels like it will fall out of its socket and has been hurting so badly that I cant lie on my right side anymore and  my shoulder on right side also severely painful.  Been to many doctors who reported nerve pain, artheritis, but xrays show nothing!  It is so discouraging and they discourage surgery because they can find nothing wrong.  Been to ER several times in the middle of the night,  had epidural injections, am on pain pills, but I want answers to what I can do.  I do not think fibromyalgia would hurt this bad because sometimes I actually vomit from the pain and have trouble even getting out of bed.  What can you tell me?

You need another Cat scan or MRI of your cervical spine and maybe lumbar and thoracic if it has been 2 years since your last. A recent XRAY is not going to show much and may not even pick up arthritis (DDD)

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you, I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

Usually, such symptoms may result due to post head injury and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury.  For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain or spinal abnormalities after that injury. Treatment commonly may be suggested for symptoms such as pain-killers, some antidepressants, physical therapy and regular exercises. If you suffer continuous headache, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you an appropriate treatment. Further referral to a psychologist may be also helpful in order to treat usual anxiety or depression after such injuries (sometimes one may have) that may be one of the aggravating factors for persistent symptoms. Hope this information proves helpful to you.

Take Care & Regards!!!
