Back Pain and left arm and hand parasthesias


  Back pain is mid back centered below left shoulder blade. In 180 arc to the front shoulder and pec. Left hand feels as if holding an ice cube can't be put down. Stiffness in left two fingers and back of hand to elbow. Doctor notes the difference in skin temp. between hands. To quote the nurses (thats wierd). MRI shows, C5-6 moderate effacement of thecal sac but does not efface cord. Small left posterior lateral disc protrusion  at C6-7. Slight effacement of thecal sac. Slight degree of s-curve Scoliosis is felt. Blood pressure can go from am 129-89 to a pm 102-66. has enlarged heart and has lost 40 pounds since feb. 5'4 164lbs 45 yrs old.

Thanks for your question.  Your symptoms could be a consequence of radicular
pain in the cervical region, that is the nerve roots might be compressed
at the point of exit from the vertebral column.  You should discuss with
your primary physician if a referral to a neurologist, particularly one
specialized in neuromuscular or peripheral nervous system, is adequate.
You could also mention the possibility of an Electromygraphic (EMG) study.
