Hi Achilles2,
Thank you so much for your message.  It's funny, because I often question if CRPS is really what I have or if this is just an easy diagnosis for doctors to make.  The doctor I mentioned before that recommended I get off the pain meds and deal with the pain barely examined me.  Not once have I had a test, besides the EMG which just noted peroneal neuropathy, to really determine if CRPS is my problem.  As for chiropractic care, I probably should have included that I have tried pretty much all 'alternative' treatments out there.  The congenital back issues I mentioned include spinal stenosis at L4/L5 and L5/S1, degenerative disc disease, sacralization at L5, and also a Tarlov Cyst.  Most of these were found on MRI's between the ages of 12 and 16.  During my younger years, although I was in terrible pain, the only treatments I received were cortizone injections and pain medication, which did nothing for me.  I tried these until around the age of 20 or so then found a wonderful chiropractor/acupuncturist.  He has been able to help me soo much throughout the years.  He is from China and a huge believer of Chinese medicine and it's ability to cure people and so far he's done so much for me but with this particular problem, he hasn't been able to help.  One thing I have started doing, which my PCP suggested, is hypnosis.  So, don't think I would ever think your suggestions are crazy!  I thought the same as you, "why not" and have had one session with her so far and she also made me a CD basically with our session recorded on it so I can practice it every day at least once, at this time though I've found myself listening to it about 3-4 times a day.  This first CD/session is concentrating on relaxing and on using my subconcious mind to "turn the pain off".  It sounds really nuts, but it has given me some peaceful and relaxing moments and is really helping me with the whole mind/body thing because I know my pain is not a mental problem, but I do know that any time I feel emotionally stressed out and frustrated, it calms me down to practice the self-hynosis.  I am very excited for session #2 on Friday.  I just don't know if this is going to cure me.  I guess crazier things have happened, and I appologize for kind of going off the subject about this, but basically I just want you to know and others that might read these posts that I am up for trying anything and hypnosis is a great tool if people are desperate like I am.  Unfortunately though, chiropractic care hasn't helped.  My leg and foot can barely be touched.  I have the classic CRPS symptom of allydonia, where I can't even have a bed sheet over my leg or foot or even wind blow on it, or AC in the car, or wear a shoe or long pants, etc.  Thank you so much for your reply though and I'm so happy that you were able to tackle your pain.  I get teary eyed just thinking about conquering my pain.  But again, even if I cry or get a little upset, the pain just gets worse.  Thanks again for your help.
