Baclofen pump replacement

by ldhasl, Oct 20, 2008 08:22PM
My husband has a baclofen pump from Medtronic implanted in Feb of 04 to help with spasticity related to his ALS diagnosis.  He is due to have it replaced.  However, because his pulmonary function is significantly diminished they are going to do the procedure with local anesthesia and conscious sedation.  I am interested in seeing if anyone has had this done in this manner and what is involved.  Pain levels? Post-procedure pain?

My husband is extremely nervous about the procedure and we want to have a realistic picture of what is involved.

Thanks.
