Baffled and Scared

by maggie1965, Oct 14, 2007 06:06AM
Just until recently, I chalked all my ailments to just too much living for my 42 years of life.  Now I am baffled and I am scared.  For several years now I have suffered upper back and neck pain.  Would go see a doc about it and some would look at me like I was crazy, that I am just trying to get drugs, some would offer an opinion, (by the way all of which were different) and one doctor even told me a women at my age starts to get aches and pains for no apparent reason at all.  I have had injections, physical therapy and a countless array of drugs, some narcotic some not. I have been told I have advanced arthritis in my spine, rheumatoid arthritis, nerve damage from previous injuries or I was just told they couldn't find any apparent reason for my pain.

Abouut six weeks ago I started having, (I am going to explain this as best I can, so bear with me) it felt like lightning bolts from my upper spine and neck shooting into my shoulder blades, then I started getting very bad migraine headaches from the time I would up to the time I would go to bed, they got so intense I couldn't even see, I couldn't move my head it hurt so bad.  I couldn't keep anyfood down at all.  For a solid two weeks my whold upper body felt like it was just one raw nerve with no breaks in between.  I went to a doctor and he just gave me some pain pills and sent me on my way.  At this time all I did was lay in bed, I would just sleep, for me which is hard, because I suffer from insomnia, always have.  So for me to just lay there and sleep for like 20 hours a day is quite rare.  I couldn't help it though, my body was drained, I have had no energy of any kind.  At this point I kind of chalked it up to an episode.  Maybe I pulled something, I have been told I have had so many things wrong at this point I didn't quite know what was going on.  Now this is when I started getting real scared, about three weeks ago, I lost about half my hearing in both ears.  Went to the doctor and she check my ears and they looked fine.  Gave me some more pills and told me to take benedryl that maybe I had a sinus infection and told me I was premenapausel because on top of everything, when all this started I began having night sweats something fierce. Well lets say that didn't help either.  She did send me to a neurolgist and his main focus was my chronis headaches, sent me home with Ellevil and Immetrex.  I explained to him all my symptoms that started all at once.  But, he didn't seem to think there was anything to be worried about.

When I can I look on the internet to maybe help get some answers so I can mention them to my doctors, that's when I found this website.  I just hope someone who reads this can see all my symptoms as a whole.  Some of things I have been finding is some pretty scary stuff.  Here is a list of all my symptoms that I have been experiencing for the last two months.

Severe Headaches
Migraine headaches
sharp shooting pain from neck and upper back that shoots across my back or into my head
jaw pain and pain right below both my ears
hearing loss in both ears(this one scares me the most, am I ever going to hear again.  I am always
saying "what did you say" because they practilly have to yell at me for me to hear
them.  I hear no background noise at all, its just silence.
night sweats, (I wake up completely drenched wether I have slept a half hour or ten hours, usually
it's my hair, face, neck and chest
feeling really hot and then being really cold
constant fatigue (I have no energy, I literally have been in bed for two months "that's depressing"
all I want to do is sleep)
my spine itself from about where my shoulders are up to the base of my skull is very sore, even to
                         the touch. It's very sensitive
the base of my skull where it touches the neck is very painful.
my hair is falling out, alot more than usual.
I am very pale with dark circles under my eyes.
I am nauseated most of the time and when I do eat I get hearburn very easily.

Now, I understand that maybe some of these symptoms might not be associated with anything, but I find it very odd that all of this hit me at once and is not related in some sort of way.  Also, like I said before, I have suffered for several years with chronic back pain, but I got use to it, but nothing like this and all of these other things too, I just don't understand it. I want to hear again. If anyone out there can relate or has any opinion at all, please, I would love to hear from you,
