Balance/Visual/Headache/ & Other Problems

  Hi,
I wrote to you people before and you kindly gave me response. I just want  to try and get some help on a few things. Since January I have been ill with a baffling illness that no doctor seems to be able to diagnose. It took me till a few days ago to even get to see a neurologist about it. Basically I have millions of white and black dots as well as shadows and what I imagine are blood vessels floating in front of my eyes constantly.
This is made worse by looking at the sky. Also if I look at a carpet with say loads of dots or cirlces then everything looks really strange and it makes looking at it very difficult. Also everything I look at seems to
float or ripple, nothing seems totally real looking or fixed down, very strange. My balance is off too, it is as if I am moving but I am not, if that makes any sense. I can't comfortably stand up for very long without
feeling tired and off balance. My headaches are also severe with them never disapearing but they are sometimes not so bad. They are at the front, sides and back of my head. Also I have an uncomftable neck, it feels heavy and awkward most of the time. I can't concentrate or do any jobs either which proves difficult to live with. Basically speaking I had an MRI on Monday  and I got the results the next day and I was told it was all clear. Which makes things confusing, if it isn't a stroke or tumor or MS that I have  then what the heck is it ? Oh and out of interest the scan wasn't with contrast because they said they wouldn't know if they needed it or not till they did the scan and I found out that they didn't use it, would this make much of a difference ? Oh and I feel slightly odd all the time as though on acid or something, I am in my own mind but
I feel a bit day dreamy.
I have been given a urine test to take to supposedly show if I have small tumors but I am unsure of the name of the test, it is an overnight one. If this proves negative then I just don't know where to go next. Do I see a E.N.T ? Or a blood specialist ? I have had viral and standard blood tests as well but all proved negative. Oh I only figure on seeing a blood specialist because I get a massive body rash from neck to feet if I do anything with strain, such as weights or lifting things, I also burn up a lot and I never used to get this but the doctors don't seem interested in it. I also thought eye sight and headaches can be related to blood problems but then I am not a doctor. It has been suggested also that I may have a inner ear problem but how do I go about knowing if this is the case ? Wouldn't a MRI show this ? Also do you think that a doctor would keep MS or anything from me to protect me from making it worse by worrying ? Just my paranoia probably. Finally any problems with vains in the head would show up on a MRI , is this correct ?

Thanks greatly for any help you may be able to give and sorry to ramble on but I am slowing loosing hope for a cure.
  With thanks,
  Jon

Thanks for the question Jon. Sounds like some confusing symptoms. You should have your eyes examined by an optholmologist to make sure you do not have some type of retinal problem. Patients can get visual phenomena from migraines but I'm not sure you fit in that category. You report your symptoms at all times which would be unusual. Abnormalities in the occipital lobes can cause visual phenomena. An MRI scan is very helpful but without contrast some things can be missed, You can get some information about the veins in your head from an MRI scan but if you wanted to study the veins you would need a MRV magnetic resonance venogram. All this sounds alittle confusing and a second neurologic opinion may be helpful. If you wish a referral to CCF call 216 444 5559. Good luck
