Basilar artery blockage

Good afternoon,

My father, 84 y.o., was diagnosed 3 years ago with 90% blockage of his basilar artery. He has several TIA's and his neurologist said that there is really nothing they can do, because it is deep in the brain.

I have read everything on this....however, his vision and balance are now being affected, I believe, more than in previous years. Could these be symptons of something worse to come? (that sounds like a silly question)  I realize it is only a matter of time before he may have "the major stroke" !!

Any help/answers/comments would be greatly appreciated.

I am extremely happy to be celebrating 10 years since I had a 80 percent blockage in my Basilar Artery I had  two T I A's six months apart.
Dr Richard Hass at R I hospital, went in and was able to get to the blockage and reduce the size from 80 percent to 15 to 20 percent I am extremely happy to have had the last ten years and hope to have as many more years as  posable. I just had my 76th birthday.

I was just wondering how your father is doing?  My mother who is 71 has been diagnosed with the same thing.  She just had her 1st TIA a week from this last Tuesday.  We are so scared and don't feel like there is a lot of hope(though I would never let her know that.  Have you learned anything else?  I would greatly appreciate any info you have.  I hope that your father is doing ok under the circumstances.  My prayers are with you.  Thanks
