Bicep pain and numb fingers

I have had surgery for shoulder impingement ~ 1 month ago, during the surgery the doctor inserted a pin to correct what he thought was a slap lesion and then pulled it back out saying the bicep was to tight and I dont have a slap lesion? He also removed a pea sized calcification. I have been going to PT 3 times a week. and have resumed some activities (have not returned to work, will on Monday) and have been experiencing very heavy pain in the bicep and some numbness in the pads of 3, 4 and 5 fingers. I notice both the numbness and pain more when my arm is extended in front of me and slightly to the side (like when arm is on the arm rest in car or using the mouse) and when my arm is above my head. when arm is above head I hear clicking with each movement, therapist hear/feels it also and says it is my bicep. Is there something I should be asking the doctor and is there any suggestions for pain management/relief. I am not sure what is going on and would like to get back to normal activity, pain free. Thanks.

The 7th and 8th cervical nerves serve sensory function to this area. Therefore, it is possible that your problem could be anywhere from your cervical spine to the peripheral nerves. Without examining you I can not be more precise. Regarding the biceps tendon, this should not cause the problem in your fingers. What I would recommend is that you have a consult with a neurologist. The neurologist should be able to examine you and localize the problem more precisely. You may need a MRI of the cervical spine or an EMG (muscle/nerve) test. Good luck.

I have a similar nerve problem in my hand following shoulder surgery. My problem is nerve pain in my thumb, near the wrist.
Had an EMG from shoulder to hand which showed no problem. They're now recommending a neck MRI altho I don't know how my neck could have gotten messed up during shoulder surgery. Let me know how you're doing. ***@****
