Blown Pupil and cross-eyed

Blown Pupil and cross-eyed

My fiance' was in a car accident and laid in a coma for 2 months. She recently woke up to discover her left side functions were poor. However, her left side functions are getting better everyday. She can walk slowly, she can finally move her left arm and she can finally open her left eye lid.

Unfortunately, her left pupil is blown so everything is blurry and her left eye does not point in the same direction as her right eye (cross-eyed). She sees double when she keeps them both open because, even though it is slight, the left eye just isn't looking at the same spot the right is.

Enter a process I heard of called Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). I've heard DBS can help her recover these lost functions. Is there anyone that has heard favorable things about DBS and what it can do for her?

On a side note, and amazing fact about her eyes is, if she covers her right eye, magically the left one works again and she can move it around like normal and focus on things. When she uncovers the right eye, the left one goes back to being sluggish and useless.
