Bracial Neuritis vs. Cervical R

by becky6157, Nov 14, 2008 07:41PM
For the past year I have been under going treatment for shoulder pain.  At the start I had extreme pain when reaching, lifting - not every time though.  MRI and CT revealed bone spurs in shoulder and degenerative disc disease and spurs c5-c7.  After 4 months of PT and multiple steriod type injections to neck and shoulder, with no decrease in incidents of pain I had surgery and AC joint decompression was performed and bone spurs removed (March 08).  Returned to therapy and began progressing - then replased with significant neck and shoulder pain.  PT along with RX therapy continued through Aug 08.  Referred to neurologist for eval - Cortizone injections into rotator cuff cofirmed problem was ac joint.   Second surgery Sept 08 for achromicalclavicular degenerative disc disease (collar bone became arthritic).  Two months post surgery with pain in neck and shoulder still present.  Neck is painful with motion in all directions with burning pain across both shoulders that stops mid way above the elbow.  Numbness and tingling sensations between should blades and intermittent tingling and numbness in left hand with noticable weakness in left shoulder and arm.  Physical therapist performs neck traction 2x weekly and shoulder PT that includes range of motion exercises, arm bike 5 min, overhead pullies.  Throughout this entire process I have constant inflamation (inflammation) of the left neck and shoulder (along the clavial).  Inflamation (inflammation) subsides but returnes when PT exercises are resumed.  Pain is still present.

What was first diagnosed as Rotor Cuff Synd, then Cervical Radiculpathy, is now being evaluated for possible Bracial Neuritis. Does this newest diagnosis fit my symptoms?

This discussion is related to Bilateral Brachial plexus neuritis vs. Cervical radiculopathy.
