Brain Damage without Proof?

Brain Damage without Proof?

Ok the docs said that i have damage to parts of my brain but it didnt show on scans. They found it from an evaluation where they put me through some memoryMemory loss
Mental status tests, dexderity, and speed tests. Is this right? Can they say that i have this damage without it showing on the eegEeg, mri with/without contrast, cat scan, and think there was some other test they did but not sure. Can someone have brain damage and it just not show up?

idk if it helps but they said it was caused my an agressive viral infection that did the damage. They said cause of all my migrains, constant headaches, and all the head injuries iv had its increased my likelyhood of brain damage

Dear Keebster,
Yes, I have read a couple articles that say not all brain damage shows up on a CAT scan or an MRI.  Diffuse or shearing damage are a couple of situations where it won't show up on the scan.  In these cases, it is important to do a neurological exam, which includes taking a history of your symptoms, asking you a series of questions designed to see how your memory and thinking skills are doing, and also have you do a few physical movements to see how that goes, as well as checking your reflexes and eye dilation and so forth.  In this manner, a clinical diagnosis can be made of brain damage if your neuro exam demonstrates clearly, even without a scan showing it, that you have neurological type problems.  If you think your migraines come from something else, you can get a second opinion from another specialist, see what he says about the situation.  Medications and physical rehab can sometimes make your symptoms improve, you should ask your doctor what treatment program he would advise for you.

yeah those was the tests they did
iv had migrains since i was little think mom had said it started like around 3 or 5 years old she said she could tell a very noticable change from a normal headache and when i would have a migrain so thats not really a question i went in to docs for that for some time but none of the drugs they gave me helped and iv always had a background headache i may have one day out of 3 or 4 months that im free from it for the whole day
i was just more hoping that there wasnt brain damage

iv seen alot of docs about it and in the end they said there was nothing i could do about the loses i suffered from it all they said i could do was go and talk with a theropist to help me deal with it and to goto help forums for the major disorder they called it prosopagnia or something like that its face blindness
Thanks for your reply im going to try to get with a therapist but they seem to be completely booked up down here so il just have to wait
But again thank you for your informative reply

My Dear Keebster,
You know, I thought I recognized your name!  Bless you, child.  You can look at it this way, instead of "brain damage," which can have negative implications I suppose, you can say, "I have an allergy that fogs up my brain sometimes," if anybody wants to inquire.  And it seems like I remember that they don't know what causes face blindness, but I'll let you do a general online search for those two words and find out more.  Maybe there's clinical trials going on for helping with that, and I think at some websites devoted to face blindness, there's forums of people who are busy talking about what it all means.  I too have a little bit of an unusual illness, and I visit my special health forum with some regularity, when things get tough, and I got a psychiatrist, too!  I wonder if you can get disability for your condition, so you wouldn't have to work but still be able to provide a roof over your head and food on the table, and then you could use your spare time to become a great artist, or a great tennis player, or whathaveyou.  I hope this little off-the-record psych therapy session has helped you.  But gosh, it would be great to know the origin of all your mental disagreeances.  I knew mine, but did not make the connection of cause and effect until 30 years later.  But by the time I figured it all out, I had come to terms, moved forward with what I had, and God gave me an acre and I'm doing my dangest to make it the best acre I can.  Welll, you can tell I need to go take my medicine now.  But I just felt like I had run into an old friend when I realized who you were!  Cuz in posts, we're faceblind too.  Smile.
Always, all the best, GG

im not sure i can get disability
i can work to a certian degree its just that if my bosses knew whats wrong i would be fired cause of security concerns the moment i told them and no place would hire me if i put down my medical conditions which i think i have to do iv not filled out a resume in a long time nor a job app so not sure that they ask for conditions but i dont think it would be fair for them to hire me without knowing
