Brain Tumor

I have a buzzing sound in my brain that is preventing me from sleeping and I also get pressure on my brain. I have had hallucinations and I am not sure if I should go to the doctor to get a referral for a brain scan or not. I am in serious discomfort as it sounds like a nerve has broken. I have been told that broken nerves can form into tumors which I think is the pressure on my head. I can't sleep at night. It began when I started cigarettes but I have stopped smoking now.

I also have a sensitivity to light and my vision is affected. I have had head aches in past due to bright light or the glare of the computer screen and my vision is affected.

Also I have  back injury with a pinched nerve and compressed disc.

It is mainly just hearing the electrical current that is preventing me from sleeping and the discomfort but the pressure is causing me discomfort as well. I can't function in the day time and make good judgement calls for my health so my quality of life is severely affected.

What is your advice about this situation? Should I try and get a referral for a brain scan or not? Would a brain scan be of any benefit in this situation such as an MRI or CATSCAN? I am not sure if it is a brain injury that has been aggravated by the cigarette poisons or not. I am not sure if it is a tumor. Would a brain scan determine any diagnosis? Thanks for your help.

sha, nobody can answer these questions but a doctor, and if I were you, I'd already be at the ER. Pressure, hallucinations? All bad signs. Don't wait for a referral. Get to the hospital!

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

It is called” tinnitus” when you hear a ringing or buzzing sound that no one hears. It is mainly heard in ears but sometimes few persons feel that it is coming from head. Common reasons of tinnitus could be any inner ear or any other neurological disorder due to extreme noise or meniere’s disease, large ear wax, trauma (like spinal injuries), and due to some medications. Additionally, migraine possibilities also need to be evaluated thoroughly. If you are hearing continuous ringing noise, please arrange an appointment with an ENT specialist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you further treatment. Hope this information proves helpful to you. Take Care & Regards!!!
