Brief dizziness?

by Lynn, Feb 14, 2000 12:00AM
Several months ago I fell and landed directly on my left frontal area-no LOC, however for weeks after felt a little "lopsided"
In October began to experience very brief 1-2sec "dizzininess" or "vertigo"-no other symptoms-seems as if I "tilt" a little. Cannot associate with movement-happens while driving for long periods-watching TV-moving head forward and while typing. Has also occcured in bed. Slight nausea associated but resolves. Cannot decide if fear and anxiety secondary to the sensation causes nausea. Have had EST and Echo to rule out Cardiac as I am on Lipitor for high cholesterol. Otherwise have no other symptoms.
Sensation is accompanied by strange feeling in head. Very aware during spells.

Dear Lynn:

Since you have had these symptoms for over 4 months, I would recommend that you see a neurologist.  Whether there is a correlation between the fall and your symptoms is difficult to say.  My best guess is that the two are separate, but without examining you I can't tell.  I would have things looked at by a neurologist just to make sure.

Sincerely,

I had those very same symptoms, which would occur several times a day and were quite disconcerting. I had the MRI and CAT scans, they found I had a severe nasal infection and polyps in my sinuses. Ear problems and brain tumors were ruled out. Since treatment  I have had maybe one episode a month, if that.

Your symptoms are what I was experiencing for months before the Shingles came on.
