Bright white light while dreaming

I have recently begun seeing floaters, or a bright white flashing light in both my eyes randomly during the day in the corners of my eyes. But then last night, for the first time, I was having a highly emotionally charged dream and everytime I yelled at a person in the dream I got this extremely intense, vision blocking, white flashing light directly in my line of vision. While it was happening I could feel it in the dream, and "see it" but I was not lucid in the dream in the sense of knowing I was dreaming.
I have done some research and nothing seems to explain this, the other people who have had flashing lights seem to have it happen while they fall asleep but mine were definitely during my REM cycle and it occurred multiple times throughout the dream...
If anyone has any thoughts I welcome them.
